What is Medication management?

Medication management is an appointment with highly trained psychiatric care specialists. Providers in this area evaluate, diagnose, and treat psychiatric disorders using a broad range of medical approaches. 

When would I need Medication management?

The Ketamine Health & Wellness Clinics of Ohio team, led by an experienced psychiatrist, offers medication management  for patients with conditions including: 

• Depression
• Anxiety
• Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
• Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
• Suicidal ideation

Please note that in general, we do not prescribe benzodiazapines (Xanax, Ativan, Klonipin) at our office, and we do not diagnose ADD or ADHD.

You might need a medication management evaluation if you’re experiencing symptoms and need an accurate diagnosis to pursue treatment. Or, if you already have a diagnosis, you might need Medication management if your current treatment isn’t working, need or want a new provider, if you’re experiencing symptom relapse, or if you want to try an innovative new treatment.

Your medication management  includes:

Psychiatric evaluation

In a psychiatric evaluation, the team reviews your medical history, symptoms, lifestyle, and many other aspects of your life. This evaluation can lead to a diagnosis. It can also provide further clarity on a diagnosis you already have. 

Treatment planning 

Treatment planning uses the information from your evaluation to help decide the best treatment for you. You’ll discuss your evaluation results with the team, talk about past treatments, and review your personal goals and wishes for treatment to help decide the next steps. 

Medication management 

Medication management covers all prescriptions for and uses of psychiatric medications. This ranges from traditional treaments to leading-edge treatments like Spravato® (for treatment-resistant depression) and intravenous (IV) ketamine. We discuss evidence-based treatment options and empower patients to make the right choices for their treatment.

Medication management is an ongoing process. If you take oral medication, you’ll see the team at regular intervals to renew your prescription and make any necessary changes. 

For treatments administered in the office, like IV ketamine and Spravato, you receive constant supervision while undergoing treatment The team uses state-of-the-art noninvasive approaches to monitor you during and after treatment. This makes sure that you are safe and don’t experience any serious side effects.
